You’ve seen the news: COVID-19 still shows no signs of abating. And with a new, more infectious variant, this scourge is going to stay for a long time.
While there is no cure yet for COVID-19 (only a vaccine, which is preventive), the best people can do is to learn to live with it. For business owners, that means maintaining operations even when half the workforce is working from home, or finding meeting room rentals while the office is shut down. In today’s post, 191 Works discusses ways to keep clear of the coronavirus while you’re renting office spaces and meeting rooms.
Wash Your Hands
In the case of COVID, this has gotten on a more urgent and important note, as you can introduce the virus into your body simply by touching your face with your contaminated, dirty hands. A 20-second wash with a rich lather of soap can kill bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2—the virus that causes COVID.
Office spaces with a washroom that’s regularly sanitized and a good supply of soap and water are ideal choices in a COVID world.
Keep Your Distance
The virus spreads when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, where it is launched in an aerosolized spray that can stay airborne for a time and can reach a moderate distance from the source. An office or conference room rental that enforces social distancing procedures—for at least 6 feet—is a good candidate.
Sniff the Air
Airborne pathogens, like flu viruses, circulate much more readily in air-conditioned, closed-off rooms. Without outside air to recirculate air, a virus can theoretically be recycled by an HVAC system for an entire day. Some office space rentals now include air purifiers with UV light that kills viruses, but the easiest (and cheapest) way for such an establishment to comply with sanitary standards is if they regularly maintain their HVAC ducts and air filters.
Smell the air inside the office. If it smells moldy, look elsewhere.
